Bartender
Purpose Statement
Under the direction of the Restaurant General Manager and Manager on Duty, provides timely, accurate and friendly service while preparing the highest quality beverages for our guests.
Primary Activities
- Ensures that bar area is prepared for opening and maintained throughout the shift.
- Makes staff aware of food and beverage specials.
- Greets guests upon arrival at bar area and engages with guests as appropriate.
- Takes beverage orders from guests and servers.
- Prepares and serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks consistent with the restaurant’s standard drink recipes.
- Maintains and updates list of needed supplies.
- Works to up sell drink specials and food items as directed by management.
- Accepts guest payments, processes credit cards charges and make change as appropriate.
- Washes and sterilizes glassware.
- Maintains cleanliness in all areas of the bar including counters, sinks, utensils, shelves and storage areas.
- Receives and serves food orders to guests seated at the bar and in the bar area.
- Assist the restocking and replenishment of bar inventory and supplies.
- Completes all side-work duties as assigned by the management.
- Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the Restaurant Manager or Manager on Duty.
- Performs other essential job tasks as assigned by the restaurant management.
Education and Experience
Required
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Have working knowledge of serving beer, wine and liquor and common drink recipes.
- Knowledge of basic food handling and sanitary guidelines.
- Basic communication skills sufficient to understand and execute instructions accurately.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact positively and professionally with all coworkers and guests at all times.
- Ability to organize work, manage multiple job tasks and maintain composure during peak operational periods.
- Punctuality and regular and reliable attendance.
- Prior experience in food service and/or preparation.
- High school degree or GED is preferred.
Licenses and Designations
- Preferred candidate will have a ServSafe certification.
Physical Requirements
- Continuously stands, walks, utilizes near vision, speech, hearing, manual/bi-manual dexterity, lifts and/or carries up to 20 lbs.
- Frequently walks on uneven/wet surfaces, lifts and/or carries up to 35 pounds, bends at the waist, twists, reaches at and below shoulder level.
- Occasionally lifts and/or carries up to 50 pounds, reaches above shoulder-level, pushes/pulls, bends/stoops, squats, climbs step ladders and kneels.
Work Conditions and Hours
- Normal restaurant working conditions.
- Occasionally exposed to extreme heat/cold, water, noise, and chemicals used in cleaning.
- Works closely with others.
- Scheduled work hours may vary week to week and will be based on the business needs of the restaurant.
- Work shifts may be scheduled on weekends and/or holidays, and for early morning opening or late evening closing shifts.
- All employee work schedules are subject to change at any time, with notice, in accordance to the business needs of the restaurant.
