Description

FUNCTION OF THE JOB: The Operations Manager will work with the leadership team, contributing to the development and implementation of organizational strategies, policies, practices and budgets. Manage and supervise the Distribution Center to ensure the highest level of productivity, accuracy, customer service and safety in a positive work environment. The position will have the ability to influence the culture and success of an entire operation. Direct accountability and responsibility for evaluating daily operations requirements and ensure the appropriate scheduling of resources to meet productivity, accuracy, and safety and service goals by providing direct guidance to Department Managers and associates. Fosters teamwork, cross-functional communication, personal growth and accountability.


INTERACTION:

  1. Reports to DVP, Logistics.
  2. Interaction with DC Management team, Transportation Managers and cross-divisional peers.
  3. Interaction with other individuals within the Distribution Center and Business Partners.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  1. Oversee the daily operations and ensuring the appropriate scheduling of resources to meet productivity, accuracy and service goals.
  2. Assist DVP on the development of budgets, forecast variance and analysis.
  3. Establish goals for the department and communicate effectively to ensure that Managers understand what is expected.
  4. Ensure that established operating procedures (SOP’s) are followed for all department functions and processes.
  5. Achieve daily goals by removing productivity barriers for associates.
  6. Maintain a safe, clean and orderly environment.
  7. Create and maintain a positive work environment where you provide first level support and follow up for Department Managers and second level support for Supervisors/Associates.
  8. Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  9. Accurate and timely performance of administrative duties.
  10. Foster and support the Open Door Policy.
  11. Communicate cross-functionally to assist team to solve operational issues.
  12. Lead by example with highest degree of integrity, promote teamwork, and effectively communicate at all levels within the organization.
  13. Accountable for leading the team to achieve established Key Performance Metrics.
  14. Foster a culture of continuous improvement. Understanding and desire to use data and statistical tools to drive operational improvements; strong focus on metrics and culture of accountability.
  15. Prepare, direct, and coordinate reports and information.
  16. Maintain confidentiality of all company and customer information.
  17. Administer company policies and practices, and ensure compliance. As needed, administer company established discipline procedures for policy violations.


JOB DESCRIPTION

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES:

  1. Supervises Department Managers on a daily basis through activities including (but not restricted to) hiring, motivating, delegating, promoting, counseling and coaching, performance appraisals and pay-rate reviews; scheduling and termination.

  1. Must have adequate vision, speech, hearing and physical ability to perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodations.

  3. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. necessary to handle/move cartons of merchandise.
  4. Standing on feet 80% of day.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience.

• At least 5 years’ experience in operations leadership preferred • Proven leadership skills and experience in employee relations • Critical thinking skills. • Multidisciplinary experience (i.e. operations, logistics, retail, supply chain, transportation, and distribution) is a plus. • Bilingual (English/Spanish, English/Haitian Creole) is preferred. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to communicate logically and clearly in a group or individual setting. • Proficient computer skills, including Word, Excel, Power Point • Must be able to work flexible hours and adapt to changing work requirements • Self-directed, multi-tasking, hands on, and action oriented with the ability to perform in high pressure and dynamic situations.
