Job Summary
The Over-the-Road Driver, Class A, is primarily responsible for the transportation of equipment and freight across long-haul routes. This position requires extended travel, with drivers being away from home for at least ten, and up to 14 consecutive days, followed by scheduled time-off. In addition to driving, the role involves handling freight and unloading trailers at multiple stops. Over-the-Road (OTR) Drivers enjoy a competitive salary, health insurance options, 401(k) with company match, daily per diem for each day of overnight travel, and company-provided lodging with up to one hotel stay per week for eligible drivers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Safely operate a Class A commercial vehicle to transport products from the manufacturing facility to designated warehouses and destinations.
- Assist with the loading and unloading of products at multiple stops, ensuring that all items are handled carefully to prevent damage.
- Ensure all deliveries are completed on schedule while complying with all DOT regulations and company safety standards.
- Follow delivery schedules and routes as provided by the Logistics Manager, ensuring timely arrivals and departures.

- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on the vehicle, including checking tire pressure, oil levels, and other essential functions. Report any issues or needed repairs to the Safety & Transportation Manager.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including delivery logs, receipts, and any discrepancies encountered. Ensure all documentation is completed and submitted promptly.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local driving regulations, as well as company policies and procedures. Ensure all required licenses and certifications are up to date.
- Maintain effective communication with the Dispatcher, warehouse personnel, and customers providing updates on delivery status and any potential issues.
- Represent Golden Waffles professionally at all times, ensuring positive interactions with warehouse staff and other stakeholders.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and securing loads properly.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and applicable state and federal laws regarding transportation and equipment handling.
Position Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
- Valid CDL Class A driver’s license with a clean, safe driving record.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a CDL driver, preferably in a logistics or distribution environment.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 lbs. and manually handle freight as required.
- Must be able to work overnight shifts for up to six consecutive days.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state transportation regulations including DOT regulations and compliance requirements.
- Experience with proper load securement and handling of freight.
- Excellent time management, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
- Ability to operate a forklift safely with training.
Working Conditions
