We strive to build a crew of caring people who possess self-discipline and enjoy working in the restaurant profession. We operate North Asheville and South Asheville locations and a catering department. We are locally and independently owned, food quality driven, and well known for our fun and eclectic work environments and memorable guest experiences. We are looking for qualified hospitality professionals like yourself to help us continue to grow and add new stores in the Asheville area!

We are hiring for part-time and full-time servers. Hours may fluctuate based on the needs of the business.

The server is responsible for providing our guests with fast, friendly hospitality. Luella's offers counter service, however, the server also assists with making recommendations, suggesting food pairings and spending the whole duration of the meal with guests.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Prepares the tables, making sure condiments are refilled and performing all other preparation tasks
  2. Stays updated on current menu choices and specials
  3. Suggests dishes, assists in drink selection, informs customers about food preparation details, and communicates specific customer needs to the cooks
  4. Maintains proper dining experience, delivers food and drink items, fulfills customer needs, offers desserts and drinks, removes courses, replenishes utensils and refills glasses
  5. Prepares mixed drinks
  6. Obtains revenues, issues receipts, accepts payments, and returns customer change
  7. Performs basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by MOD
  8. Fills in for absent staff as needed
  9. Assists with special events as needed
  10. Greet all guests and owners warmly and with an appropriate greeting
  11. Adheres to grooming and appearance standards consistently
  12. Understands and clearly communicates products and services available at the restaurant
  13. Must have some familiarity with basic cooking skills
  14. Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

  1. The ideal candidate will possess at least 90% of the following
  2. Previous server experience is preferred
  3. Integrity, honesty, accountability, a passion for excellence
  4. A natural surplus of hospitality extended to guests, employees and vendors
  5. An unusually attentive focus on details and a compulsive desire to make even the smallest details perfect
  6. Excellent communication skills
  7. Candidates ages 16-17 may be employed as servers, however they will not be allowed to prepare, sell, serve, or deliver alcoholic beverages
  8. To serve alcoholic beverages (beer, wine, liquor) candidate must be at least 18 years of age
  9. To bartend and craft liquor drinks, candidate must be at least 21 years of age
  10. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, talk, and hear
  11. The employee is required to be on their feet for a large portion of the day/shift
  12. The employee is required to stoop, kneel, or crouch; reach with hands and arms; use hands to finger, handle or feel tools or controls; must be able to lift and /or move heavy objects including tables and cases of food and beverage; must be able to lift approximately 20 pounds overhead
  13. Must be able to sustain constant mental and visual attention
  14. Adequate computer skills and more importantly, the ability to learn a new computer application quickly and follow the standards associated with it
  15. Must be able to work in a restaurant environment including kitchens, dining rooms and patios
  16. Must be able to work a flexible schedule can vary from week to week; work required on AM and PM shifts, weekends and holidays
  17. Above all, a desire to be the best
